High-wheeler and Unicycle Races
Cyclebration celebrates the use of human power for wheeled recreation, sport, and transportation. Original and replica high-wheelers, velocipedes, and "Whymcycles" are among the many bicycles that compete, are on display or are available to the public for a test ride.

"Davisville Mile"
The most popular of the high-wheeling events - four laps around a city block downtown. See how fast these bikes can really go, and what it takes to control them! After the races, onlookers can try riding mini replica bikes. (See "Whymcycles.")

Traditional Races
Among these races are the Slow Race, the Slalom, the Sprint, and the High-wheeler Straight and Narrow. For the Slow Race, the last cyclist to cross the finish line wins! - trickier done than said since forward motion must be maintained and falling off the bike is an immediate disqualification. The Slalom highlights maneuverability, and the Sprint is all about speed as the name implies. The Straight and Narrow is specifically designed for the High-wheeler; competitors must control their bicycles within an increasingly narrow path without straying - the cyclist who does so the farthest wins.

Whymcycles - created by Peter Wagner
Ride the inventive creations of master cyclist builder Peter Wagner! Peter engineers various bi-, tri-, and quadra-cycles in addition to "eccentrics" - cycles featuring at least one moving axle. Although it refers to his entire collection of over 30 cycle inventions, the name "whymcycle" comes from his "whymcycle proper," an eccentric, scooter-like vehicle which allows the rider to pump the floor board and keep both feet off the ground while riding. These wonderful bicycle designs are available for the public to ride - or try to! Also among the bikes for riding: 2,3, or 4 seater bi- and tricycles tandem bikes, replica mini high-wheelers, recumbent tricycles, including "Sprocketacus" and a bicycle with two moving axles - a double whymcycle!

Children's Tricycle and Wagon Race
A family favorite, parents and kids can enter the race - all contestants win a ribbon!
